Teeter Totter of Common Wisdom goes to Washington
An open letter to our Duly Elected Representatives:
Dear DER
Something is happening to the teeter-totter that checks and balances our government.
The fulcrum point of this seesaw has been moved back and forth so many times that it can’t find its original equilibrium and our entire nation is tottering as you teeter.
Like all good teeter totters, (we’ll call it the TeeterTotter of Common Wisdom) this one has 2 ends. And for the TTCW to work properly they both need to be in balance.
The north end is ‘When You Point at Someone, Three Fingers Point Back at You’
The south side is ‘Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right.’
When a congressman from Party A gets caught with his britches below the equator, politicians from Party B grasp their hearts, jump off the Teeter Totter of Common Wisdom and point in righteous indignation.
And the seesaw whacks them in the jaw, with those pesky 3 fingers pointing their direction.
You, Party B, have plenty of folks huddled on your own platform who ain’t behaving either.
Quit pointing, get your own house in order and climb back on the TTCW.
“SEE!” Party A squeals, jumping up and down on the teeter totter before sliding off the back. “They are just as bad as us! Who are they to judge?”
At this point the ‘Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right’ end whups them on their noggins.
Just because, Party A, someone else is doing something utterly naughty does not make it OK for you.
Get some moral and ethical and common sensical standards together and abide by them.
And get back on the teeter totter.
In summary, Party A and Party B and all you little sub-partys, your nation needs you to focus on your nation. Behave. Invest in 535 chastity belts with keys entrusted to your lawfully wedded spouse. Mind your own business and that which affects the health and well being of the people you represent and the standards you know you should uphold.
Get that TTCW fulcrum back where it belongs and get some balance back in our government.
Sincerely,
Your constituent
The Prude
